David Guetta - Listen
I’ve never been a massive fan of David Guetta, but this album really changed my mind.
Guetta’s first studio album in three years is very different from anything I’ve heard from him before.
Gone are the headache inducing sounds, replaced by gorgeous orchestras and incredible bass lines.
The album features well known artists including Emeli Sande, Nicki Minaj, Sia and the often forgotten Ms. Dynamite.
I was very surprised when I listened to this album. I was entirely convinced that it would be the same as previous Guetta albums and that I wouldn’t enjoy it at all, but I audibly gasped at the bass line on Dangerous, the latest single to be released from the album and a collaboration with relatively unheard American artist Sam Smith.
An on hearing Goodbye Friend, where Irish pop-rockers The Script join Guetta, I could barely contain my excitement at the amazing sound they had created.
Guetta has said that this album is his most personal to date, reflecting on his divorce from his wife of 22 years, and that comes across clearly.
The Whisperer, featuring Sia, is a stripped back, orchestral masterpiece, which showcases Sia’s operatic voice perfectly. Overall, this album is a thing of beauty!
