Highways bosses say they are still deciding what to do to fix the problem of Spalding’s much-ignored town centre driving rules.

The situation in Spalding Market Place has been branded a ‘farce’ - with many drivers ignoring the rules that are supposed to bar access during the daytime.

The matter is actually the responsibility of the police - with drivers breaking the law by going into a ‘closed’ road - but officers have previously said they want to work with councils on a more permanent fix to avoid the need to spend time dishing out tickets.
