A new deal on cut price electricity is just weeks away and South Holland District Council leader Gary Porter is calling on residents to register an interest now.

Registering is free but the clock is ticking and you need to get your name on the list by November 26 or you could miss the boat.

Coun Porter said: “Simply sign up and we’ll do our very best to save you money on your fuel bills.

“The potential savings each year could be equivalent to how much the council costs you in council tax.”

He will be disappointed if savings are less than 15 per cent, but says sheer weight of numbers will help drive the price down.

The council has joined two groups of councils who are using a successful Dutch-Belgian firm, iChoosr, for the collective switching process.

Residents who filled in Lincolnshire Free Press/Spalding Guardian “fairer fuel” coupons will be added to the new list of interest but none of the 2,000 people will be asked to choose whether to sign on the dotted line until the deal price is known.

To register go online to www.sholland.gov.uk/doitonline/plandev/fueltariffregister.aspx

You can also contact your ward councillor or request a paper copy of the sign-up form from the council offices in Priory Road, Spalding, or call the council on 01775 761161.
