New rental homes to be bought at Bentley Court development in Spalding

The 100th anniversary of council house building has been marked with an agreement to buy five new homes in Spalding.

The houses, part of the Bentley Court development in West Elloe Avenue, are to be owned by the district council’s own housing company (Welland Homes) and “let at market rent properties”, according to a report from Coun Christine Lawton, the district council’s portfolio holder for housing.

It was confirmed on the same day as the centenary of The Housing Act 1919 which gave the go-ahead for councils to build 500,000 homes over a three-year period.
