Members of Spalding Amateur Swimming Club are taking their pyjamas to the pool to raise cash for Two Lips.
The pyjama party at The Castle Sports Complex on April 30 will have a practical side too, according to chairman John Pailing, as it will teach children how to swim while wearing clothes.
Founded in 1934, the club has taught hundreds of children to swim.
John said: “Non-swimmers usually begin in the learner pool, progressing through the lanes in the larger pool as their swimming skills improve.
“We calculate that within a year between 15 to 20 children are taught to swim within the club.”
Being able to swim is a skill that can be a life-saver and it also gives children more confidence to go on the water in boats.
John says any money donated to the club from Two Lips will be spent on equipment.
The club has 130 members, including 70 children, a synchronised swimming squad, a water polo team, master swimmers and adult leisure swimmers.
Five swimming teachers and four poolside helpers supervise the 6pm-8pm meetings on Tuesdays.
