Spalding Wygate Park Academy pupils celebrate Earth Day

Environmentally concious pupils at a Spalding school have been supporting Earth Day activities.

Children at Spalding's Wygate Park Academy took part in various activities to mark Earth Day, which took place on Thursday last week.

Pupils were allowed to attend school in blue and green clothes, with some even making hats from recycled materials to enter the academy's Earth Day competition.

Core subject learning was all linked to the Earth and children enjoyed art sessions and the creation of posters to show how the school could be kept eco-friendly.

Each class also took part in a 'no electricity' period, turning off their classroom lights for a short time to conserve power.

Everyone had a great time and learnt a lot about the environment.
