POLICE may prosecute landlords after pubs in Bourne and Folkingham were found open after hours on Friday night.

The newly formed police county licensing team found the Marquis of Granby at Bourne and the New Inn at Folkingham were open beyond their licensing hours in an operation sparked by residents’ concerns.

Sgt Jock Watt said residents complained of anti-social behaviour and noise nuisance.

He said the landlords will be interviewed this week with a view to prosecution and applications to review licenses at both premises will be considered.

Sgt Watt said: “This is the first time the new county licensing team has carried out an operation of this type since its recent inception and we hope that it will send out a message to communities throughout Lincolnshire suffering from similar problems that we will deal with those premises that flout the law.

“I would also like to remind those responsible for licensed premises to abide by the conditions of their licence so that they avoid and future possible police intervention.”

The former divisional licensing officers have come together to form the new county licensing team.
