A public inquiry has opened into plans for 60 new homes in Sutterton.

The four-day hearing, in front of a Government-appointed planning inspector, started on Tuesday and concerns plans by York-based developers Persimmon Homes to build on seven acres of land in Monarchs Road, Sutterton.

Boston Borough Council rejected the plans in October 2014 over fears of increased traffic on roads not considered capable of taking extra vehicles, the effect on people living in nearby Eastfield Close and Sutterton effectively becoming part of Algarkirk.

Persimmon Homes have appealed against the council’s decision and the hearing, which included presentations from the developers, Sutterton Parish Council and Sutterton Action Group, is expected to end tomorrow.

But a decision on whether to grant the appeal and overturn the council’s decision could take months to be made public.
