The achievements of The Deepings School students were recognised at the annual award ceremony and presentation evening.
The school welcomed more than 600 guests to the evening when the classes of 2015/16 were presented with certificates to highlight their achievements.
Many students were awarded additional prizes to represent the whole range of subject areas, sporting achievements and work within the community.
Special guest Cassidy Little, an ex-marine and recent winner of The People’s Strictly, presented the awards and gave an inspirational speech, urging the students to have pride and aggression, to be resilient and determined, and to try to remain cheerful in the face of adversity.
Guests were entertained during the evening by year 8 student Evie Alexander, who gave a beautiful solo performance, and by the lively student band W45, who performed their own composition.
Duke of Edinburgh Awards were also highlighted, and school DofE leader Paul Shepherd provided an overview of the scheme and thanked staff and volunteers for helping so many students through their bronze, silver and gold awards.
Careers and Events manager Linda Taylor said the proceedings were expertly overseen by governor Sharon Green and a vote of thanks and presentation was made to Cassidy by head boy and head girl Ben Jacklin and Heather Buttery.
Guests were invited to join staff and the school’s community partners for refreshments after the formalities.
Linda said: “We would like to thank everyone who attended the event and helped make the evening such a success.”
