A well-established department store in Spalding is looking to grow the business.

Hills Department Store, in Broad Street, has been trading successfully for 50 years.

Now the store, which currently employs 55 members of staff, has recruited two new buyers.

In addition, it is looking to open a new menswear department in the next few months as well as making a number of other changes.

Nick Snookes, manager, said: “Hills Department Store has been proudly serving our community for over 50 years.

“Thanks to all our valued customers, we are now Spalding’s largest independent retailer.

“This year we will be undergoing some exciting changes starting with our new menswear department that will open soon with brands such as French Connection, Crew, Joules to name a few.”

The company’s new buyers are Samantha Bradley and Christabel Paul.

Samantha, the new cosmetics buyer, who has completed training for Lancôme, Estee Lauder and Clarins, said: “ I am looking forward to being part of a family-run independent store, where we can offer a range of counter facials and mini make ups.”

Christabel, assistant buyer of ladies’ fashions, said: “I’m very excited to be offered this amazing opportunity.

“I’ve got some great ideas to bring to Hills to make it an even better place to shop, with some exciting brands coming soon to the store.”
