POLITICS: Protest vote might now go to the Greens

Have your say

News of participation by a Green Party candidate at the Spalding Guardian’s hustings event on April 23 is welcome.

With LibDem support fast disappearing, Labour flat-lining in the polls and widespread public distaste at UKIP’s unwise selection of a candidate with a dodgy history of expenses scandals, the “protest vote” might now coalesce towards the Greens?

Perhaps, not surprisingly, as the natural home for left-leaning voters who couldn’t, in all conscience, contemplate voting for a right-wing fringe party.

Surely, local UKIPers will soon realise that their time would be better spent in Doncaster North campaigning against Ed Miliband!
