Police investigating ambulance crash in Spalding

UPDATE 4PM: Police have been called in to find out why an ambulance crashed into the garden of a Spalding home today.

Two paramedics were shaken but otherwise unhurt after the ambulance ended up in a garden on Pinchbeck Road at about 5am.

There were no patients on board but an East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) official confirmed that police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Richard Henderson, EMAS assistant director of operations for Lincolnshire, said: “The incident is subject to a police investigation and therefore it is not appropriate for us to make further comment at this time.”

THURSDAY 9AM: An ambulance has crashed into a garden in Pinchbeck Road, Spalding. The incident happened at 5am this morning.

There were no patients in the ambulance at the time and the driver and his co-worker were dazed but not seriously hurt.

It is thought they were returning to Spalding Ambulance Station at the end of a night shift.

A recovery vehicle is currently at the scene.
