Green light to create flats at former Spalding shop
Flats will be created at a former Spalding town centre shop.
J T White (Sheepmarket) Ltd has been given the green light to create four self-contained flats at 8-9 Sheep Market and 1A Abbey Path.
Planners at South Holland District Council have give permission last week.
The decision notice states: "This proposal site is situated within the Spalding Defined Settlement Boundary and set above the commercial ground floor.
"Although this site is within the primary shopping frontage, Policy 26 does set out that independent uses above ground floor of commercial properties are suitable provided that there is no loss of ground floor commercial shopping frontage.
"This in conjunction with the viability of the site thanks to its settlement boundary location and the fact that above ground residential space is generally considered to be preventative against flood risk, the principle of development is acceptable."
In January, the site, which is the former Charmed Interiors shop, received planning permission for a change of use to a beauty parlour.
