Planners refuse Bourne Skip Hire plans

Plans to use agricultural land on the edge of Bourne for processing up to 75,000 tonnes of waste each year have been rejected by a council.

Bourne Skip Hire had asked Lincolnshire County Council if it could use a site, measuring about two-thirds of a hectare off South Fen Road, for waste recycling to produce soil, soil substitutes and aggregate.

The company hoped to store about 10,000 tonnes of waste at the site at any one time. The application also asked for two offices to be sited at the same location.

A report to the planning committee said the main issues are “whether the proposed development is acceptable in this location given its location in the open countryside and whether the development would have any adverse environmental or amenity impacts”.

The planning committee refused the bid.
