Trajan Dimsey fires his grappling hook launcher, left, and makes like Spider-Man, right

Trajan Dimsey (34), a former student of Spalding Grammar School, invented a grappling hook launcher in his bedroom, after watching You Tube videos.

In a similar vein to Spiderman, he has made it possible to shoot ropes into the air from the device attached to his arm, that hook onto targets.

And it means he can chain together multiple swings like the webbed superhero.

Grappling hooks have been invented before, but not ones that mean you can launch ropes that you can swing from - according to Trajan.

“No one has been able to do this before,” he said.

“It was an idea born out of frustration and probably from watching too much TV.”

Now he wants to turn it into a travelling theme park ride so people all over the world can try it.

“I’ve always dreamed of swinging through the air like Spider-Man,” he added.

“Other influences were Batman, Attack on Titan, Liero, Assassins Creed and Zelda.

“There are just so many fictional examples that I grew frustrated at the lack of a real, working grappling hook launcher so I decided to build one for myself.”

The former history student ordered parts from Ebay and embarked on the home DIY project after watching ‘how to’ You Tube videos.

He said: “I tested it by standing at the bottom of my stairs and launching a rope to the top.

“I then rented a field and built towers and scaffolding to shoot at and create the swings.

“It’s been pretty trouble-free. I had about 50 metres of airbag below.

“There are always going to be a few breathing problems but nothing to write home about.”

He has got patents for his design and has invested about £20,000 of his own money in the project.

Next he wants to set up an engineering company to produce grappling hook launchers and take the equipment on tour.

He has set up a Kickstarter page with a target of £250,000 that he needs to raise by March 18 this year.

The project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by that date and time is running out.
