Picture special: Ahoy there landlubbers! Youngsters from Holbeach treasure their pirate experience

By Spalding Reporter

Youngsters at Holbeach Primary Academy have been learning all about pirates and explorers.

Throughout the topic the pupils from years 1 and 2 learned that pirates wear earrings to help them see and use their flags to scare off other pirates.

Pupils' learning was used to support a "Pirate Day" where all the children completed crafts, including making hooks, flags, parrots and hats.

All the pirates then had a treasure hunt to complete before another pirate crew came to steal the treasure.

Ollie, from year 1, said: "My favourite part of the day was finding treasure on our treasure hunt and we got to take it home."
