Bake off fun for students from Peele Community College in Long Sutton

Students from the Peele Community College in Long Sutton enjoyed a Great British Bake-Off themed event at the College of West Anglia in King's Lynn.

Over 20 Year 10 students from the Peele took part, testing their culinary skills by cooking various food including sausage rolls, cupcakes and canapés.

This was the last of five events organised by the College of West Anglia in partnership with LincHigher, funded by the Office For Students (OfS) to increase aspirations amongst young people and target particular wards around the country. The overall aim for the projects are to meet government targets of improving access to higher education.

Peele careers advisor Jacqui Gilman said: “This is the second year that we have run the taster days in partnership with the College of West Anglia and LincHigher and again we have had a brilliant five weeks of alternative education in the college environment.

“Students have been able to use the skills and knowledge that they have learnt in school and apply these to a variety of vocational courses in college. The transition from school to Post 16 education can be difficult to adjust to and these taster days have hopefully helped students with their future career plans.”
