Outline consent has been given for residential development of nine plots off Cobgate, Whaplode.
Councillors unanimously approved plans submitted by H & R J H Creese but all matters, including the design of homes and the layout, are reserved to a future application.
The planning committee unanimously approved the application, although there was a warning from Coun Michael Seymour.
He said: “My concern is the haulage yard next to it.
“Small companies have the potential to grow bigger and then you start getting noise problems.”
Nine residents of Cobgate and Cobgate Close had objected to the development, raising concerns including road safety, noise and privacy.
