Holbeach Music & Beer Festival cancelled
Organisers have pulled the plug on this year's Holbeach Music & Beer Festival because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Although the government announced yesterday (Thursday) that outdoor music performances can resume from tomorrow (Saturday), they feel it would be impossible to manage, guarantee public safety, maintain social distancing and operate profitably with a limited audience.
A statement reads: "The Festival team has come to the decision, with very heavy hearts, that The 2020 Holbeach Music & Beer Festival cannot safely take place this August because of the COVID-19 virus.
"We’ve been waiting for some good news and after the latest government announcement another small step forward will now allow outdoor theatres, opera, dance and music performances to resume from Saturday 11th July 2020...
"BUT BUT BUT as long as they take place outside and with a limited and socially distanced audience. We feel that the festival would be impossible to manage, guarantee public safety, maintain social distancing and operate profitably with a limited audience.
"It is of the utmost importance that we play our part in keeping the public, staff, suppliers, caterers, contractors, acts and all our volunteers safe and well. We have all worked so hard to build our good reputation over the past few years and it would be a real shame to risk everything this year.
"Our festival has become one of the most popular community events in Lincolnshire and a massive part of so many people’s lives but we remain positive and have started to plan for next summer when the festival will take place over the weekend of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 6, 7 and 8.
"We have contacted all our acts, suppliers, partners and volunteers, so effectively we are rolling over this year’s festival to next year with hopefully the same music line-up.
"We are pleased to announce that this year's tickets are valid for the 2021 festival. However, should you wish to have a refund, we are happy to refund you in full via your PayPal purchasing account.
"We are happy to refund any ticket purchases for this year but please complete our ‘Refund Request Form’ to help ourselves speed up the process. The form can be found on our website.
"Thank you so much everybody for your support and understanding but hopefully we can have double the fun next year."
