Volunteering is for everyone!

WEEKEND WEB: Volunteering is for all ages!

Often people wrongly assume volunteering is only for the retired, but not only do working age adults commit much time to community work, students and young people are also a major volunteering force.

Last week (Feb 19-25), was Student Volunteering Week and LCVS would like to congratulate all those who got involved.

If you are a student or young person who took part and has been given an appetite for community involvement and volunteering, or if you now wish you had got involved, Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS) would love to hear from you.

Volunteering is an amazing way to gain new skills, try different roles and make connections.

Hundreds of organisations in South Holland are currently seeking the support of volunteers in a wide range of interesting roles.

Headway Lincolnshire, which supports people with brain injuries and their families and carers, is seeking volunteers to help maintain and improve its website and to train staff to do so.

We at LCVS are looking for volunteers to assist with the growing and successful Happy Breathers COPD community clinic and support group at the IVO Centre, Albion Street, Spalding. Volunteers are sought to help set up, meet and greet, make refreshments and encourage attendees to get involved in activities. Volunteers need to be available between 1pm and 4.30pm Thursdays.

Lincolnshire Police is also looking for people in a varied role to support neighbourhood policing teams who regularly go into schools to deliver training and information packages on a variety of subjects.

Tasks may include assisting with the development of packages to be delivered in schools; assisting with administration tasks, such as, presentation planning and producing lesson plans; establishing contacts within local schools to ensure engagement can take place; attending local schools to assist in the delivery of packages; promoting LincsAlert to schools and utilising the system to broadcast relevant information; offering guidance and support to young people in circumstances relating to policing.

Find out more about any of the above opportunities or hundreds of others available in South Holland via LCVS. Visit: www.lincolnshirecvs.org.uk , @LincolnshireCVS on Facebook and Twitter , email enquiry@lincolnshirecvs.org.uk or call 01205 510888 option 3 for Spalding office.
