By John Lavery

The Priory School in Spalding has maintained its ‘Good’ Ofsted rating after a positive inspection in March.

The report noted 'improved quality of education’, ‘wonderful learning experiences’ and ‘exemplary pupil behaviour’ for the school that caters for pupils aged between 11-16 with a range of needs.

Ofsted were full of praise for the school leadership team, with the report stating: ‘School leaders have improved the quality of education in school. The school leadership team have created a positive learning community, where pupils make significant progress.’

The report praised the curriculum for being 'extremely well thought out, providing pupils with the skills and qualification for their next steps in education. School leaders adjust the curriculum to ensure it meets the individual needs of the pupils’.

And staff at The Priory were noted for being positive role models across the school, with Ofsted saying ‘Staff engage enthusiastically with pupils as they arrive in the morning, motivating pupils to engage well with their learning…staff exchange ideas and their passion for the school and for pupils has a significantly positive impact on pupils’ outcomes and well-being.’

Daran Bland, Executive Headteacher of The Priory, was very pleased with the grading.

He said: “We are all delighted with the outcome of the recent visit from Ofsted. Inspectors have recognised the hard work and commitment from all at the school to ensure pupils get the very best education, care and guidance.

"This 'Good Improver School' outcome will mean we can look forward to a return visit from Ofsted in the not too distant future for a full inspection.

“All of our pupils have wide ranging special educational needs and our aim is to prepare them for life after the Priory School.

"The school’s innovative and diverse curriculum was noted as being of particular strength and it is through this we strive to develop confident young people who are ready for further education, independent living and the world of work.

"We are very fortunate to have such an enthusiastic and skilful staff team, supportive parents and considerate, hardworking and courageous pupils!”
