Sinkhole on Spalding road under investigation, but no date for repair work yet.

A team of highways and water engineers are investigating what caused a sinkhole to open up on a Spalding road.

Albion Street is currently closed, with diversions in place, after the sinkhole appeared on Thursday night.

Engineers from Lincolnshire County Council and Anglian Water are trying to resolve the problem, but a date for the road to be repaired is yet to be confirmed.

A county highways spokesman said: "Anglian Water is currently investigating whether the incident is connected to its infrastructure.

"Once we have received the results of this investigation, we will be able to work with Anglian Water to arrange the necessary repairs.

"Unfortunately, at this stage, we are unable to give a firm timescale as to when we will be in a position to re-open the road.
