Nightclub gets the go-ahead

A Spalding businessman has been given the green light to open a new nightclub.

An application to allow Boston’s historic Assembly Rooms to be used as a nightclub were approved by Boston Borough Council’s planning meeting last Tuesday.

Owner Matt Clark, who owns Spalding’s Loaded nightclub, said the application would help with his broad plans to bring the building back into use.

He said: “Whilst there is scaremongering over nightclub usage, it’s a side that it’s been used for, for a number of years – gathering, drinking and dancing.”

Speaking after the meeting Mr Clark said it was great news for his business and the town. He moved to reassure the public that the plans would try not to live up to the “stigma” of nightclub usage.

The redevelopment should create 35 jobs.
