SPALDING Inner Wheel’s new president is planning a programme full of fun and friendship for her year in office.
Pauline Start was presented with the chain of office by outgoing president Pamela Clay during the club’s June meeting at Welland Yacht Club.
Around 40 people attended the annual handover event which also included a buffet supper for club members and guests.
Mrs Start, a retired nurse and midwife from Cowbit, has been an Inner Wheel member for almost three years and she is keeping up a family tradition as both her mother in law and aunt were former presidents.
She said: “I’m very pleased to be the president of Spalding Inner Wheel because I’m following in the footsteps of my relatives.
“We have quite a good programme of activities, evenings and outings organised for our members over the next year and I hope it will achieve the aims of Inner Wheel which are fun and friendship.”
Mrs Start also hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for her chosen charity for the year Ovacome which provides information and support to women affected by ovarian cancer and their families.
She said: “It will be a memorable year for me and the club in a lot of ways.”
