New South Holland sex licensing laws ‘plugging a hole’

Have your say

A COUNCILLOR described changes to the licensing laws which make it tougher for pubs and clubs to turn into lap dancing or strip bars as “plugging a hole” in the existing rules.

Members of South Holland District Council were asked to adopt part of the Local Government Act to tighten up the rules surrounding “sexual entertainment venues” at their recent full meeting.

Coun Steve Williams said: “Pubs were allowed to turn into sex establishments by default therefore this has plugged that hole.”

The comment drew laughter among fellow councillors, who then passed the amendment.
