Spalding and Peterborough Transport Forum holds talks with new operator of East Midlands rail service

Campaigners for better transport services in Spalding have held face-to-face talks with the new operator of train services through the town.

Members of Spalding and Peterborough Transport Forum met with officials from the Netherlands-based, state-owned rail operator Abellio on Thursday to find out more about its plans for the East Midlands train franchise.

Current operator East Midlands Trains, whose parent company Stagecoach is challenging the Government's decision to ban it from bidding to keep the franchise, is due to hand over the Lincoln Central to Peterborough service through Spalding to Abellio on August 18.
