The Spalding GP Surgery is new name for existing surgery
A Spalding medical centre has been renamed after a public vote.
The Spalding GP Surgery is the new name for the Johnson GP Centre from tomorrow (Tuesday, October 1).
South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group, who buy health services, asked local people for ideas to rename the surgery in July, after awarding a new contract to a different provider. Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust are taking over the service tomorrow.
The CCG ran a public vote on their shortlist of new names in August and the winning suggestion was put forward by Tim Barzycki.
He said: "I am pleased the suggestion I put forward has gone on to be voted for and chosen as the new name for the practice. As a local resident I have maintained a keen interest in the development of the Johnson GP Centre, and will watch with interest as it becomes The Spalding GP Surgery."
CCG Chair Hilary Daniels said: "Renaming the practice will allow it to build its own identity and to avoid any confusion with The Johnson Community Hospital, where it is currently based.
"In line with the views of local people our aspiration is still to base the practice on the west side of Spalding as and when a suitable site becomes available, and the Alternative Provider Medical Services (APMS) contract we have awarded LCHS has the flexibility to accommodate this.
“The feedback on the practice and the services it provides has been positive, and we were pleased with the response and support from local people who have got involved in picking the new name.We are confident that The Spalding GP Surgery will continue to go from strength to strength."
