Go along to a new Music Cafe in Holbeach and you could well end up going home with a musical instrument.

Holbeach Town Band is hosting the first Music Cafe at the WI Hall on Saturday, April 11, from 1pm to 3pm.

The band has regular open days, but this will be the first Music Cafe the band has run.

Band chairman Yvonne Butter said: “You meet so many great people in the brass band world and have a tremendous amount of fun along the way.

“Pop along on April 11 and see for yourself.”

Band leader Mel Hopkin, who has been associated with the Holbeach Town Band for many years, said anyone is welcome to visit the Music Cafe.

He said: “Come along whether you are seven or 70, an accomplished player or brand new beginner, even if you fancy just popping along for a piece of cake and a brew.”

Members of the public will have the chance to meet players with Holbeach Town Band and the Holbeach Victoria Training Band, who will be helped in running the cafe by their supporters.

Players will give demonstrations of their instruments throughout the afternoon.

Mel adds: “It wouldn’t be a music cafe without giving you the chance to grab a cuppa and a cake or two. We also provide our members with an instrument, so you may even end up taking one home with you!”

The band, which is currently fundraising for a new bandroom, will perform at Moulton Chapel Tuliptime Parade on May 3 (2.30-4.30pm)and in Ayscoughfee Gardens in Spalding on Sunday, June 21 (2-4pm).
