A new minister was welcomed to Broad Street Methodist Church in Spalding on Saturday.
The church was filled for the welcome gathering to the Rev Frances Ballantyne, with members of the South Holland Methodist Circuit present, as well as Frances’s husband David and family members, and friends who had travelled for the occasion.
The Rev Alan Barker began the service by leading prayers before Pastor Trevor Wilson, chairman of the East Midlands Congregational Federation, spoke about Frances, describing her as a “preacher, pastor, poet”.
Lincolnshire Methodist District chairman the Rev Bruce Thompson gave the sermon before leading the formal presentation, promises and welcome to Frances, who also responded.
Other people from the circuit played a part in the service, including circuit steward Lisa Hearth and other circuit stewards, and the Rev Steve Weatherley-Barton, lay chair of Churches Together in Spalding & District.
The Rev Dr Jonathan Hustler, Ministerial Co-ordinator for the Oversight of Ordained Ministries, also led prayers.
Frances lives in Pilgrims Way, Spalding.
