Open for lunch at new sandwich bar in Spalding

The early signs are promising for a Gedney Dyke couple who opened their new sandwich shop in Spalding over the bank holiday weekend.

Liane and Lee Donovan have been thrilled by the positive response from customers who have visited Donovan’s Munch Bar in Red Lion Street which officially opened on Saturday.

Speaking a few days after the launch, Liane said: “Things have been really good and we’ve met lots of new people who have been really nice.

“We’re now getting some regular customers from an estate agent’s and hairdresser’s nearby whose staff want to try different foods.

“On our opening day, we were very busy and everyone was saying how beautiful the lunch bar looked.”

Liane and Lee, both originally from the south east of England, moved to the area six months ago and spoke about their business plans to our sister newspaper, the Spalding Guardian, in February 2018.

When asked what orders were proving popular, Liane said: “Our salad carts have been going well and the burgers have been very popular too.

"Everyone has been saying that there's nothing quite like them round here and we've had some lovely feedback on social media too, with some people giving is five-star ratings.

"We just want to keep building up the business now."
