PLANS for a revamp of the Castle Sports Complex in Spalding now look set to be discussed in January as talks continue on the future of the leisure centre.
South Holland District Council officers are working on a scheme to upgrade the facilities in Spalding and the plans were originally due to be discussed this summer.
That was put back to this month but now the council says it is likely to be January before the proposal is ready.
Talks have taken place between the council, Spalding and District Civic Society and other interested parties in a bid to address concerns before the plans are finalised.
Coun Howard Johnson, portfolio holder for economic development, said: “We have had pre-application discussions with the civic society, Pedals and all the usual people you would expect to be asked.
“There’s also a group of local residents that we have had informal discussions with.
“When the plans are finally drawn up they will be very very good. They won’t have universal support, I’m quite sure of that, but I think they will be of benefit to the district as a whole.”
It is thought the scheme will involve a new pool, sports hall and gym.
