New bandstand touted for Ayscoughfee Gardens

Have your say

SPALDING councillors are calling for a new bandstand to be sited in Ayscoughfee Gardens, if enough cash can be found.

Coun Graham Dark asked Spalding Town Forum to get a report on what’s available to buy or have built and say how much money will be needed to start off the project.

But Coun Gary Porter told him: “The initial investigation will be on behalf of the council because the museum is a council thing, it’s not a Spalding thing.”

Coun Angela Newton said she is already seeking Lottery money for a project along the riverbank connected to the Olympics – an artist has drawn a design for something there and also a bandstand which he had costed at around £15,000.

Youth council member Rhianna Berry asked: “Is it worth getting it in the same style as the hall?”

And Coun Christine Lawton said: “Can we get youngsters involved to write an Olympics theme song for our bandstand?”
