THE NEW road between Spalding and Peterborough is still due to finally open in full this Sunday.
The use of the new A16 south of Crowland has been delayed due to a crack in the embankment leading up to a new bridge at Car Dyke.
Lincolnshire County Council bosses confirmed they are are hoping to open it up to traffic on Sunday, but say that is still dependent on the weather, as they make the finishing touches.
The repairs will cost about £5million.
The Spalding to Crowland section opened last August, but last week we revealed that police have serious concerns about its safety, after reports that motorists have been speeding and taking on dangerous overtaking manouevres.
Officers are using marked and unmarked cars to track the speed of vehicles and dished out 100 fixed penalty notices in a two-week blitz.
