The Peele Community College students at Long Sutton put literacy at the top of the curriculum on Tuesday.
It was National Literacy Day and the pupils took part in a number of activities celebrating books and reading.
Students across the college had the opportunity during form time to take in books, magazines and articles they had read at home and talk about them in tutor time and during lessons.
Year 7 students (pictured) talked about books they had been reading while Year 9 pupils were encouraged to use IT to read the latest news and then discuss it. Year 10 students wrote about summer holiday experiences and played challenging word games.
