News from the South Holland Centre
The weather is hotting up and so is the live music line up at the South Holland Centre.
After a sellout gig with Fairport Convention last week, we are planning a couple of Summer events where the urge to get up and dance will definitely be encouraged.
This Friday the exciting young soul band the Soft Tone Needles make their first appearance at the Centre.
The ten-piece band play a big, bold, authentic mix of classic Soul, Northern Soul and Tamla Motown, that is guaranteed to get the crowd moving.
The event will be in the big dance hall upstairs at the Centre, with the furniture pushed right back to edge to leave plenty of room for everyone to pull out their best moves.
This Summer Soul Party will run from 8pm to midnight, with the gaps between live sets filled with Soul disco tunes, and the bar open all night.
The Soft Tone Needles grew their reputation locally, but are now in demand around the country, tapping into the current Northern Soul revival.
Don’t wait to book if this sounds like your sort of night out though, as most of the tickets have already gone.
Later in the Summer more fabulous young musical talent is on display during the third Music in the Market Place free mini-festival in the town centre.
The South Holland Centre’s Youth Takeover group organise this annual event and the list of talented young musicians on their rosta is growing all the time through the group’s monthly Acoustic Café gigs.
Line-up decisions are just being finalised, practical details being sorted out, and a few other surprises being booked for the day to give the event the Festival vibe.
It all takes place on the afternoon of Friday, August 29 – make it a date!
