West Pinchbeck mum has written a book for her daughter
A first time mum has created a special gift for her daughter by forever immortalising her in a book.
Nicola Jowett (37) had hoped to spend her maternity leave enjoying adventures with her new daughter Margaux Barrett earlier this year.
But sadly these plans were scuppered during the first lockdown so Nicola took the time to write a book for Margaux which was inspired by one of their previous trips out.
Now the book, Magical Margaux and Friends, has been illustrated and is on sale at Amazon.
Nicola, who will be moving with her daughter and partner John Barrett to West Pinchbeck in December from Thorney, is delighted with how the final product.
She said: “I did enjoy writing the book. I am an accountant by trade but had a hairbrained idea about writing a children’s book.
“I am really happy with how it has turned out.
“Alot of people have read it and said really nice things.
“Writing is different to accountancy but I have always had a creative side. But it is exciting to find something new that I enjoy.”
Like many new mums during lockdown, Nicola found herself feeling isolated and frustrated so she turned the negative situation into a positive by writing the book in order to cheer herself up.
Her inspiration came from an earlier trip to a soft play centre when Margaux and her friends were in the ball pool.
During the book, Margaux transports her friends on an magical adventure where they end up in a bubble bath.
Large boats and swans also feaure in the bookwhile their mums enjoy a coffee and cake.
Nicola said: “It took about a week to write and I worked with my sister, who works in marketing, to give a tweak before it was illustrated.”
And the book, which is aimed at young children, has proved popular with the star, Margaux.
Nicola said: “It is funny as I had printed off a couple of copies at home and gave her own copy.
“Every time she comes in now she goes to straight to the book. I don’t know if she realised that it is based on her.
“She loves it and it is nice that she has that bond with the book.”
The fun of writing Margaux and Friends has now inspired Nicola to pen a series of books based on life events.
She said: “I am now writing book four. This book will look at how a friend of Margaux’s adjusts to having a new baby.
“The books will be suitable for a number of major life events which children go through.”
