South Holland MP pushing for meeting with Grant Shapps over Lincolnshire road funding
Lincolnshire MPs have agreed to lobby for a meeting with the Transport minister to push for more funding for the county’s roads.
South Holland’s Sir John Hayes called the meeting with his colleagues.
Lincolnshire County Council has launched a campaign to try to reverse a £12-million plus cut to its funding for highways.
Sir John said: “We agreed that it was important that the county is properly funded and we are particularly concerned about spending on highways.
“As part of that we are pressing hard for a meeting with the Secretary of State for transport to take this forward.”
Sir John said that the area’s roads are important as they transport much of the nation’s produce.
