MP John Hayes votes against Prime Minister's Brexit deal




South Holland and The Deepings MP John Hayes was one of the 432 MPs who voted against Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal yesterday (Tuesday).

Conservative Sir John, who wants the UK to leave the EU, also voted for fellow Tory MP John Baron's amendment to give the UK the right to terminate the Northern Ireland backstop without the agreement of the EU.

MPs are currently debating Labour's no confidence motion ahead of a vote at 7pm after the PM's huge parliamentary defeat on Tuesday when they rejected Mrs May's EU withdrawal agreement by 432 votes to 202

The Government is expected to survive and Sir John is expected to back the PM.

* Grantham and Stamford MP Nick Boles (Conservative), who also represents Bourne and the surrounding villages, voted in favour of the Brexit deal, while Boston and Skegness MP Matt Warman (Conservative), who also represents villages in our area such as Kirton, Wyberton and Sutterton, also voted in favour.
