THE concert by London Mozart Players at St Mary’s Church at Long Sutton was a prelude to a series of concerts taking place over the coming weeks.
Father Jonathan Sibley said the musicians performed work by Haydn and Beethoven, composers whose work would have been performed on the church’s Georgain organ several hundred years ago.
Father Jonathan pointed out the church was built for Cluniac monks, who have a strong choral worship tradition, and so the acoustics was one of the key features of the church’s design.
A number of concerts are planned throughout the church flower festival, including The King’s Lynn Town Band (April 28, 7.30pm); the Beafort Ensemble (April 29, 6pm); the West Norfolk Singers (May 5, 7.30pm); St Peter’s Choral Singers from Peterborough singing Evensong (May 6, 6.30pm); Long Sutton Primary School (May 2, 6.30pm); and Peele Community College (May 3, 7pm).
Pay at the door for all concerts.
