Morrisons at Pinchbeck in bid to create additional entrance lane at its Benner Road site to boost traffic flow

By Spalding Reporter

Morrisons wants to improve traffic flow around the entrance to its Pinchbeck site.

The supermarket chain has a plan to create an extra lane off Benner Road to ease congestion and improve traffic flow into the main car park and filling station.

It would result in a loss of 20 car parking spaces but would still leave more than 400.

The plan also includes:
* new/altered traffic islands to help, in tandem with the new filter lane, direct and improve traffic flow
* new pedestrian crossing to allow safer deliveries of stock to the filling station kiosk

A statement accompanying the plan to South Holland District Council says:“The proposal would effectively provide the petrol filling station and the main car park with their own entrance lanes meaning that if one were to back up during very busy times then the other would still be free to operate as normal and continue the flow of traffic.”
