More than 150 would-be actors and crew responded to a casting call for a new feature film being made in South Holland.
Holbeach actor Steph Geneovese, who is taking the lead role in the self-penned action/thriller Dishonoured, was delighted with the turnout to the auditions he hosted at Holbeach’s WI hall at the weekend.
“I’d forgotten it was a Bank Holiday this weekend, but we still had 150 people turn up, which was fantastic,” said Steph, who decided to write his own film so he could give himself a break and help others get involved in the movie industry without having to travel to London.
“We had people from Spalding, Holbeach, King’s Lynn and Peterborough come along which was great, and even two guys from Hull and Doncaster!
“About 35 or so wanted to be involved behind the scenes with special effects, make-up and general production.
“And then the rest tried out for the different roles on offer. It just goes to show that what I thought was right – there is so much great talent out there.”

Steph says the film crew is now in place and most of the key roles have been cast too. He is currently matching people up to some of the smaller, but still pivotal roles to the plot, which centres around a former secret services agent dishonourably discharged, who is forced out of retirement when his only friend gets sucked into the world of a vicious mob.
Steph is still also seeking financial backing after failing to raise £2,000 via online funding platform Kickstarter last month. He has launched a second campaign via the indiegogo website, which allows projects to keep the money donated even if they do not reach their full target.
All those involved are giving up their time voluntarily and Steph is incredibly grateful for their support.
“I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to the auditions, those who gave up their time to help people fill in the necessary forms, and to all of those who have supported us so far.”
