Huge boost to parking at Holbeach campus
More parking could be on the way for Minerva House and the National Centre for Food Manufacturing at Holbeach.
A planning application from the University of Lincoln seeks to boost the number of parking spaces from 31 to 76 for the site off Park Road.
The application submitted to South Holland District Council says pressure on parking has resulted in drivers parking on land owned by the county council.
A comment in the application says: “This area is an eyesore and dangerous due to the potholes.
“We do not direct visitors to this car park on grounds of health and safety but invariably people do park on it.
“This piece of land is earmarked for development, which means that it will not be available in the future.
“Staff have been forced to park on grassland next to Minerva House and this had led to at least one reported accident when conditions were wet.
“A new 45 space gravel park is proposed, to be sited on unused grassland next to Minerva House, and it is intended that the car park will servecustomers at Minerva and the National Centre for Food Manufacturing building.”
