More cabins at Fleet site
Six further log cabins can be added to an existing leisure site in Fleet.
Councillors agreed that the park at Lowgate, Fleet Bank, could be extended to 24 cabins, which will provide a combination of residential and rental accommodation - although they are not to be occupied year-round or be the owner's sole residence.
The site is set within parkland and offers two fishing lakes. It is also adjacent to Hovenden House and its landscaped gardens with adjoining golf club.
There is a parking space by the side of each cabin, which was confirmed when Coun Laura Eldridge expressed concern that there would not be sufficient space for vehicles if permission for the six extra cabins was granted.
Coun Andrew Tennant supported the application, saying he was delighted that people wanted to come and take a break in this part of the country.
"I am always pleasantly surprised how many people want to get away to peace and quiet in the middle of nowhere in the Fens," he said.
Coun Christine Lawton was in agreement that the mix of cabins for sale and for rental was a positive decision for the site.
