Thomas, from Wisbech, has always worked in catering and dreamed of owning his own business one day.

He said: “I’ve worked in catering since I left school, but I was fed up working for other people so we thought we’d take something on ourselves.

“I’ve always loved the pastry and dessert side of cooking, and I’m a big milkshake fan, I always used to make them at home.

“We looked around Holbeach and felt there was a lot of opportunity here so we decided we’d open our own milkshake and dessert café.

“I like the big over the top American food with the wow factor, so that’s what we’ve gone for and in the look of the place too.”

As well as mouth-watering milkshakes with flavours including Oreo crush (stacked with whipped cream, Oreos and chocolate sauce), Candy Explosion (filled with candy floss sauce, whipped cream, marshmallows, sprinkles, lucky charms and candy floss) and Hershey’s cookies and cream (with whipped cream, chocolate sauce and cookies and cream chocolate) there are also classic flavours and the option to create your own.

Other offerings include freakshakes – featuring homemade cakes stacked on top of decadent flavours - freshly baked cakes and desserts while more recently Thomas has added sandwiches and toasties to the menu too.

“We’ve had a great response so far,” he added.

“We’re open until quite late and if things continue going well, we are going to look into doing delivery too, as well as adding other things to the menu.

“There isn’t really a lot for youngsters to do in the area, especially when it’s raining, so we’re child friendly and more than happy for youngsters to come and sit in the café too.”

* Milkshake Madness is open every day except Sunday, 11am to 7pm. For more information follow Milkshake Madness on Facebook.
