THE first Holbeach Mid Summer Fayre takes place this weekend.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Holbeach, the event will take place at Carter’s Park from 11am to 4pm on Sunday,

Funds raised will be shared between Everyman; Stamp out Male Cancer and projects supported by the Rotary Club of Holbeach.

Attractions will include children’s fairground rides, a bouncy castle, craft and charity stalls, along with South Holland Radio in attendance and the chance for visitors to have their picture taken with birds of prey.

Sam Poole, of Absolute Animals, is running the dog show. Registration will be from 11am and judging starts at 2pm. Entry is £1. There are seven categories including handsomest and prettiest dogs, dog and owner lookalike and scruffiest dog.

After the Best in Show, Sam will hold an obedience demonstration.

Club publicity officer Helen Scott said: “We are grateful to the parish council for giving us permission to use the park.”

The club recently donated £1,000 towards the goal force project in the park and planted purple crocuses to represent the fight against polio.

It also assisted with the renovation of the children’s play area a few years ago.
