Drink driver reversed car into Moulton ditch day after army reunion

An Essex man visiting the area for an army reunion reversed his car into a ditch when almost three times over the alcohol limit for driving.

David Ingram (54), of Haywood Court, Waltham Abbey admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Prosecuting, Marie Stace said Ingram reversed his Volkswagen car into a ditch in West Cobgate, Moulton on September 12 when trying to turn round.He was found to have a reading of 95 microgrammes of alcohol in his breath, the legal limit being 35.

It was said Mr Ingram had attended an army reunion the previous day, when he did not drive, but the had more to drink after a church service the following day.

Ingram, who had a previous conviction for driving with excess alcohol in 2014, was banned from driving for three years and fined £200 and ordered to pay a total of £119 in court costs and charges.

He was offered the drink drivers' rehabilitation course, which will reduce the period of the ban by 36 weeks.
