Spalding area doctor is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Lincolnshire East Clinical Commissiong Group is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month, during October, in a bid to highlight the importance of screening and early detection of breast cancer.

More than 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK, making it the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women - one in eight UK women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime, with the risk increasing with age.

In addition, every year around 7,400 women are diagnosed with an earlier, non-invasive form of breast cancer, usually confined to a specific area of the breast (usually milk ducts) but which may later develop the ability to spread.
