Alfred ‘Hoppy’ Smith, once landlord of the Nag’s Head Inn at Long Sutton, was also a scrap dealer who sold his purchases to White’s of Spalding.

It was Alfred who bought the German First World War 5.9mm Howitzer that once stood near Pop Bottle Bridge in Long Sutton.

This picture was submitted by a relative who says it is not Alfred in the picture.
