Long Sutton branch of the Shotokan Karate Association had just completed a charity karate competition in 1990.

It was in aid of the association’s nationwide campaign to raise £100,000 for cancer research.

Instructors black belt Malcolm Latham and brown and red belt Edward Satchwell organised the event at the Peele School, Long Sutton.

Around 15 members were sponsored to complete 500 kicks and punches in an hour.

The club raised about £200 and members received a small prize and certificate.
