Long Sutton Boys’ Brigade members tested their skills in the Indoor Sports Day held in the town’s Baptist Church on Saturday.

Members of 1st Long Sutton Boys’ Brigade came third overall in the annual contest between companies in the battalion.

1st Long Sutton captain Iris Foster said boys from Peterborough, Sleaford, Deepings, Spalding and Long Sutton competed in various games, including darts, table tennis, pool, chess and draughts.

There was a trophy for the winner as well as shields for individual events.

Winners were Sleaford, 1st Spalding was second, 1st Long Sutton and 3rd Spalding were joint third, while Peterborough came fourth.

Mrs Foster said: “There are only five companies in the battalion now that Bourne and Whittlesey have closed, but the boys all seemed to enjoy themselves.”
